A succulent spiral-sliced ham gets brushed with a sticky-sweet glaze that caramelizes in the oven, creating a golden, glistening exterior while keeping the meat tender inside. The minimal hands-on time makes it perfect for holiday dinners or Sunday gatherings where you need an impressive centerpiece without stress. Serve this crowd-pleasing classic at Easter, Thanksgiving, or any celebration that calls for elegant simplicity.
Jump to recipePreheat the oven to 325°F.
Place the ham flat side down with flesh side down in a 13x9 casserole dish or large roasting pan.
If the ham is spiral-sliced, generously spoon on or brush on ¼ cup of glaze all around the top of the ham. If not spiral-sliced, cut a 1-inch checkered pattern all over the ham (except the flat flesh side) before glazing.
Tent the ham loosely with foil and bake at 325°F for 90 minutes for a 6-8 pound ham.
Uncover the ham, spoon on or brush on an additional ¼ cup of glaze all around the top, and bake at 400°F for 30-40 minutes or until lightly browned on top.
Cover the ham and rest for 20-30 minutes before basting one more time using the glaze and juices from the bottom of the pan before serving.
