Buttery slider buns get slathered with a zesty garlic-onion mixture spiked with Worcestershire and Tabasco, then filled with tender ham and melted cheese before baking until golden. The poppy seed topping and Dijon mustard add sophisticated depth to these nostalgic bite-sized sandwiches. Perfect for parties, game day, or whenever you need an impressive appetizer that comes together in under an hour.
Jump to recipePreheat the oven to 350°F (no convection fan).
In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, poppy seeds, and Dijon mustard. Set aside.
Place the bottom buns in a 13x9-inch casserole dish and evenly layer the Swiss cheese slices over them, making sure to cover the buns.
Evenly spread out the ham slices over the cheese, folding them over to make thicker layers. Sprinkle the shredded Gruyère over the ham.
Place the top buns on and brush the butter mixture generously over the top, completely covering everything.
Cover with foil and bake on the middle rack for 20 minutes.
Remove the foil and use a paring knife to poke holes wherever butter is pooling on top so it can drip down into the sandwiches.
Bake uncovered for 15 minutes or until the cheese is completely melted and the tops of the buns are golden and toasted.
