The Soju Yakult Cocktail is a wildly popular Korean bar drink that originated in South Korea's vibrant nightlife scene, particularly in Seoul's Hongdae and Itaewon districts. This refreshing mix of soju and the beloved Yakult probiotic yogurt drink creates a sweet, tangy, and slightly fizzy cocktail that is endlessly easy to drink.
Jump to recipeChill all ingredients thoroughly in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before preparing the cocktail to ensure the best flavor and temperature.
Fill a large glass pitcher or mixing jug with 1 cup of ice cubes to keep the drink cold during mixing.
Pour the entire bottle of soju (360ml) directly into the ice-filled pitcher, distributing the alcohol evenly as the base of the cocktail.
Open all 5 bottles of Yakult and pour them one by one into the pitcher with the soju, stirring gently with a long spoon after each addition to begin combining the flavors.
Slowly pour in the 200ml of lemon-lime soda or sparkling water along the side of the pitcher to preserve as much carbonation as possible.
Stir the entire mixture gently 3 to 4 times using a long bar spoon, using a folding motion to combine without losing fizz.
Fill 4 individual serving glasses with ice cubes, then pour the cocktail mixture evenly among the 4 glasses, approximately 200ml per serving.
Garnish each glass with a thin lemon round placed on the rim of the glass and serve immediately while cold and effervescent.
For the non-alcoholic variation, replace the soju with 360ml chilled sparkling grape juice and follow the same steps to create a probiotic mocktail with similar sweetness and tang.
