Sweet Mango Lassi is a beloved chilled yogurt-based drink originating from the Punjab region of India, where lassi has been enjoyed for centuries as a refreshing staple. This creamy, fruit-forward version blends ripe Alphonso mangoes with thick yogurt and a touch of sugar to create a smooth, indulgent beverage perfect for warm weather or alongside spicy meals.
Jump to recipeIf using fresh mangoes, peel 2 large ripe Alphonso or Ataulfo mangoes, remove the pits, and cut the flesh into chunks to yield approximately 2 cups of pulp.
Add the mango pulp, chilled plain yogurt, chilled whole milk, granulated sugar, ground cardamom, and rose water if using into a high-powered blender.
Add the ice cubes to the blender on top of the other ingredients.
Blend on high speed for 60 to 90 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth, creamy, and frothy with no mango chunks remaining.
Taste the lassi and adjust sweetness by adding more sugar one teaspoon at a time, blending briefly after each addition.
Pour the lassi into four tall chilled glasses, dividing it evenly among the glasses.
Garnish each glass with a sprinkle of chopped pistachios and a fresh mint sprig before serving immediately.
