Ingredients
- 8 cups fresh watermelon, cubed and seeded
- 4 cups cold filtered water
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2-3 limes)
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar or agave nectar, adjusted to taste
- 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
- Lime wheels for garnish
- Ice cubes for serving
Instructions
- Add the cubed watermelon to a blender and blend on high speed until completely smooth and liquefied, about 30-45 seconds.
- Strain the watermelon puree through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher, pressing on the solids with a spatula to extract all the juice. Discard the pulp.
- Add the cold water, fresh lime juice, sugar, and sea salt to the pitcher. Stir vigorously until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or lime juice as needed. The flavor should be light, refreshing, and not overly sweet.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the agua fresca to chill thoroughly.
- Stir well before serving over ice in tall glasses. Garnish each glass with fresh mint leaves and a lime wheel.
