Refreshingly light and naturally sweet, agua fresca is a traditional Mexican beverage that blends juicy watermelon, lime, and mint into pure summer bliss. The balance of citrus and subtle salt makes this drink incredibly thirst-quenching and perfect for hot afternoons or casual gatherings. Whip it up in minutes for an authentic, no-fuss refresher that beats any store-bought juice.
Jump to recipeAdd the cubed watermelon to a blender and blend on high speed until completely smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
Strain the watermelon puree through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher, pressing with a spatula to extract all the juice. Discard the pulp.
Add the cold water, fresh lime juice, sugar, and salt to the pitcher. Stir vigorously until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Taste and adjust sweetness or lime juice as needed. The flavor should be light and refreshing, not overly sweet.
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the drink to chill thoroughly.
Stir well before serving over ice in tall glasses. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and lime slices.
